Energy Flow and Rapidity Gaps Between Jets in Photoproduction at HERA

چکیده
Dijet events in photon-proton collisions in which there is a large pseudorapidity separation ∆η > 2.5 between the two highest E T jets are studied with the H1 detector at HERA. The inclusive dijet cross sections are measured as functions of the longitudinal momentum fractions of the proton and photon which participate in the production of the jets, x p and x γ respectively, ∆η, the pseudorapidity separation between the two highest ET jets, and E T , the total summed transverse energy between the jets. Rapidity gap events are defined as events in which E T is less than E cut T , for E cut T varied between 0.5 and 2.0 GeV. The fraction of dijet events with a rapidity gap is measured differentially in ∆η, x p and x γ . An excess of events with rapidity gaps at low values of E T is observed above the expectation from standard photoproduction processes. This excess can be explained by the exchange of a strongly interacting colour singlet object between the jets. To be submitted to Eur. Phys. J. C. Adloff, V. Andreev, B. Andrieu, T. Anthonis, V. Rapidity Gaps between Jets in Photoproduction at Hera H1 Collaboration
Photoproduction events which have two or more jets with transverse energy E T > 4:5 GeV have been studied in the p centre of mass energy range 158 GeV < W < 247 GeV with the H1 detector at HERA. The fraction f (() of events with a rapidity gap between the two highest E T jets is measured as a function of the rapidity separation between the jet axes. A gap is deened as the absence between the je...

Data from the H1 detector at HERA have been used to study photoproduction events which have two or more jets. The data were taken in 1996 and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 6.63 pb−1. Events were studied in the photon-proton centre of mass energy range 165 GeV < W < 243 GeV and with Q < 0.01 GeV. Jets were defined using the longitudinally invariant kt algorithm. Events selected had o...

Photoproduction events which have two or more jets have been studied in the Wγp range 135 GeV < Wγp < 280 GeV with the ZEUS detector at HERA. A class of events is observed with little hadronic activity between the jets. The jets are separated by pseudorapidity intervals (∆η) of up to four units and have transverse energies greater than 6 GeV. A gap is defined as the absence between the jets of ...

In this talk I consider the formation of a rapidity gap in hadron production between two jets. To appear in the Proceedings of the International Workshop on Deep Inelastic Scattering and Related Phenomena Roma, Italy, April 1996 Rapidity gaps in hadron production between two jets have been observed in photoproduction at HERA [1] and in p p̄ collisions at the Tevatron [2], where it was found that...

The experimental and phenomenological status of high energy photoproduction is reviewed. Topics covered include the structure of the photon, production of jets, heavy flavours and prompt photons, rapidity gaps, energy flow and underlying events. The results are placed in the context of the current understanding of QCD, with particular application to present and future hadron and lepton colliders.
متن کاملRapidity Gaps in Hard Photoproduction
Recent results obtained from studies of diffractive processes in hard photoproduction performed by the ZEUS collaboration using data delivered by HERA in 1993 and 1994 are presented. In particular, we have found that (7 ± 3)% of events with two jets at a pseudorapidity interval of 3.5 to 4 are inconsistent with a non-diffractive production mechanism. These events may be interpreted as arising d...
